Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation Awards Grant to Stepping Stone Mission of Franklin County

Partnership increases access to nutritious food, provides nutrition education
 
Rocky Mount, Va. - Stepping Stone Mission of Franklin County has received $2,500 from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation to help nourish neighbors experiencing hunger. The “Nourishing Our Neighbors” grant supports community feeding partners as they tackle food insecurity and promote healthier lifestyles through nutritional education initiatives.
 
Stepping Stone Mission has provided high-quality and nutritious meals to individuals and families in need in Franklin County for 19 years.
 
“This grant will enable us to purchase fresh fruits, vegetables and protein-rich foods to prepare balanced meals for our patrons,” Staci Talley, President, Stepping Stone. “With these funds, our soup kitchen can also purchase essential pantry staples in bulk, further securing our ability to provide one meal every day to those in need from our area.” 
 
The Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation is committed to supporting families facing food insecurity across its 10-state footprint. Established in 2001, the foundation provides financial support for programs and organizations dedicated to feeding local neighbors in the communities it serves. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded nearly $23 million in grants.
