WHO TPISML is organized by a committee made up of representatives of three lake organizations: · Smith Mountain Lake Association · Smith Mountain Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce · Tri-County Lakes Administrative Commission The event relies on volunteers committed to helping keep the lake clean. Volunteers can be individuals, families, neighbors, subdivisions, organizations or vacationers. They may clean up the lake, shoreline or both. WHAT Take Pride in Smith Mountain Lake is community-wide effort for those who use and enjoy Smith Mountain Lake to work together to keep it clean. TPISML organizers provide trash bags, gloves and a trash collection report form. Each participant (up to 25 in a group) will receive a commemorative T-shirt (while supplies last) following their cleanup event. Businesses, churches, civic organizations and other groups may also organize larger events on their own. These groups may wish to apply for reimbursement of up to $400 for costs incurred for dumpster and landfill fees for on-the-water group cleanup events. (This is in addition to the designated dumpsters on May 5, 12 and 19.) All participants are eligible for trash bags, gloves and t-shirts when they register in advance. HOW Participants are encouraged to sign up in advance via one of the following methods: 1. Download the registration form and trash collection report online at takepridesml.com. 2. Stop by the TPISML booth at the SML Business Expo on May 4 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the YMCA at LakeWatch Plantation. 3.
